I remembered that Dr. Toh took a snotrg stand against the PAP government's very unpopular 'Graduate Mother' scheme which gave priority to the primary one registration of their children in 1984/1985. He argued convincingly that we should not use human intelligence to set education policy for admitting young children to school. In his view, the people contribute to the society in a different way. We must not create 'an elite club' to accommodate 'a special group'. The hawker, the taxi/bus driver and the cleaner play an equally important role as many others, e.g. the manager, the director and the minister etc..Have a good rest, Dr Toh! You are an honorable man. Singaporeans remember you.
