Edward William Scott

September 1, 1954 - April 23, 2018

Our most beloved husband, dad, grandpa, brother, coach, and friend passed away unexpectedly on April 23, 2018, just days before the 40th wedding anniversary to his cherished wife, Kathleen Scott.

Born on September 1, 1954 and raised on Long Island in New York, it was Ed's hardworking parents and two older siblings who first taught him the incredible worth of family and the value of selfless dedication to others.  He graduated from the University of Colorado, Boulder with a degree in accounting and finance, though he would always tell you his greatest accomplishment was winning the heart of his bride.  Ed and Kathy were married on April 29, 1978 and lived in Seattle, Washington before eventually settling in Salt Lake City to raise their own family and build a circle of close friends.

He is remembered most for his charismatic and beaming smile, dry sense of humor, and the depth in which he loved his family and friends.  He was a man of great faith and unwavering hope.  He was always reliable and based his life on integrity.  He showed up as a devoted husband, dad, and friend every single day.  Never complaining, he did for others what they most needed and never sought recognition.  His happiness was to know that his family, church, and community was not left wanting.  He was a brilliant role model and teacher for his four sons, showing through humility and love how they could become men.  He enjoyed life immensely and was warm and lighthearted. He never skipped a chance to joke with his sons and their friends.  Some of his countless involvements include the Ulster Project, serving on many Diocesan and parish councils, Boy Scouts-Troop 202, coaching for Judge Memorial High School Lacrosse, and refereeing for over 30 years.  In addition to his CPA work, Ed was the owner and founder of KAE Corp and had worked for Catholic Community Services. He was an avid sports fan, outdoors enthusiast, handyman extraordinaire, and cook.  Ed opened his home to all, hosted all, and delighted all with delicious meals.

He is survived by wife, Kathy; sons Matt, Tim, Andy, and Jeff; daughters-in-law Terri and Ariel; grandchildren Maggie, Charlie, and Sam; sister Pamela; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents William and Helen and brother Bill.

A celebration of Ed's rich life will be held Friday, April 27th, with visitation at 5:00 PM and vigil at 6:00 PM at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Salt Lake City, 670 South 1100 East.  The city parking ordinances have been lifted.  Light refreshments will be served after. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, April 28th, at 3:00 PM also at Our Lady of Lourdes.

Memorial gifts may be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Salt Lake City Parish.
