Elaine Parish Whittenburg

January 16, 1931 - October 7, 2016

Elaine Parish Whittenburg, 85, passed away peacefully early Friday morning on October 7th, 2016. Born January 16th, 1931 in Salt Lake City, the third of three girls born to Frank and Margerete Holley Parish.

She attended East High School. Graduated from University of Utah with a degree in Education. Married Robert Whittenburg on June 14th, 1952, they were married 53 years until his death in 2005. Elaine taught second grade at Morningside Elementary School and made many lifelong friends there.

Elaine is survived by her children Robert (Maricel), Ann (Cory) Reichert, and David; grandchildren Sarah Whittenburg, Weston and Sean Reichert, Ryan, Erika, Ariel and Sorsha Whittenburg. She is predeceased by her husband, parents; and sisters Kathryn Bryan and Margerete Merrill.

A wake will be held on Monday, October 17th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. Guests are encouraged to use the complimentary valet parking provided on the north side of the building.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Huntsman Cancer Institute.

My hope is that the words of Christ Jesus be of comfort, where he stated that "the hour is coming when all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out" (John 5: 28, 29). We can also take comfort in God's personal promise to "wipe out every tear" and that soon, even "death will be no more" (Revelation 21:4).
