Elizabeth Eleanor Crowder
August 9, 1939 - January 10, 2024
Fine artist and textile designer, Elizabeth Eleanor Crowder was gently guided by the “art angels” to her favorite place, “the South of France,” on January 10th 2024.
Our Mom was a unique, creative, loving (on her terms), smart, articulate, strong-willed, and determined individual with a deep love for God.
She was born August 9, 1939 to Dr. Robert M. Crowder and Dorothy T. Crowder in Sioux City, Iowa. Mom was the oldest child, followed by Nancy Roberts and Robert Crowder III (Bobby).
Betty, as she was called in her younger years, was a beauty queen, cheerleader, and Homecoming royalty at Judge Memorial Catholic High School. Mom graduated from the University of Colorado with a degree in political science, affiliating with the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She later obtained a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Utah.
Mom loved to learn, to read, and had a beautiful library that she was so proud of. She loved her garden and flowers.
Elizabeth married John E. Delaney, Sr. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church on December 31st 1960, and together they brought four kind children into the world. Mom and Dad later divorced, and when Elizabeth was 81 years-old she married Steven Todd.
Survived by Nancy Roberts, Bridget Delaney, Melissa Barnett (Dr. Kyle Barnett), John Delaney, Jr. (Annette), and grandchildren John Barnett (Nicole), Kyle Barnett, Jr. (Priscilla), and Delaney Barnett. Preceded in death, and welcomed with joy, by her father, mother, brother, 1-day old daughter Mary Elizabeth, former husbands, and many friends.
May she rest in peace.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to a charity of your choice.

Committal will follow at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 4th Ave & “T” Street, Salt Lake City.
A special note from Elizabeth’s daughter Bridget:
Momma, your canvas is now blank to create any and all of your opulent, elegant, wondrous, captivating, exceptional, soulful, ineffable, elegant, breath-taking, and eye-catching oil paintings, sketches, watercolors, sculptures, chalk, charcoal, and HAND PAINTED SILK scarves and yardage.
Liz was active in the Junior League of SLC, the Salt Lake Arts Council, and the Utah Heritage Foundation.
Momma “I LOP O VOP EE YOP O U”
Three squeezes of our hands ~ I LOVE YOU ~ so very special to share hours before you left but never ever to be forgotten!
I feel you and thank you for getting your Lil' Bridgee home safely during the icy snow storm the night that I heart brokenly left St. Joseph's Villa.
I miss terribly our many visits live and via phone almost every day , but as you know I am still having them with you. Our wheelchair rides and talks and bringing you a treat with every visit.
This is not good-bye, just “see you later gator”
I love you with all my heart Momma and was always your biggest cheerleader!
Night night sleepy sleep.
Love ALWAYS and FOREVER,
Your lil' Bridgee
In Loving Memory
So so sorry for your loss. I knew your mom and her brother for years and years. She was always beautiful. I did not know of her artistic talents. I wish you peace and love...
