Emelia Ann Pedroza Dellafera

April 4, 1923 – April 15, 2012

We lost our greatest love on a most glorious Sunday, she could not have picked a better day to say goodbye. We can tell you that we loved, admired, relished, and found safety in her arms but even these sentiments are not enough to express the gratitude and love we felt for her and from her.  She was to so many a mother, a sister, an aunt and friend.

Emelia won first place for her senior year at the Murray High School talent contest for singing. She had aspirations of one day becoming a ‘Rockette’, loved to go dancing with Gene at the Coconut Grove, had a sweet spot for big band and ranchera music, a good bourbon and a fun party.  She made the best spaghetti sauce, always put her girls in dresses and gloves, wore a phenomenal shade of red lipstick, always wore heels, and was your biggest fan at a sporting event.

As a young woman Emelia was tasked with taking care of her brothers Steve and Frank after her dad passed away. She met Gene during this time, married and waited an eternity for him to return from war. Wanting to start a family they soon found themselves with two beautiful daughters, Nancy and Patricia.

She worked for many years at the Hudson Bay Fur Company, modeling coats in the window as a living mannequin. She finished her career with Murray First Thrift and Loan as a bookkeeper. After retiring she cared for and helped raise her grandchildren Heather, Summer, and Dylan. And heartily took on the task of helping with her great-grandchildren Grayson, Maddy, Abbey and Ollie. We have been blessed.

Friends are invited to celebrate Emelia’s life on Thursday, April 19th from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City.  Graveside Service will be held on Friday, April 20th at 10:00 AM at Murray City Cemetery, 5490 South Vine St., Murray.

Adiós mi amor, toma nuestro corazón con ustedes y vamos a seguir cerca de su amor. Hasta que nos encontremos otra vez, su amorosa familia.

In Loving Memory

Pat and Nancy, I am so sorry to hear about your losing your mom. My heart aches for you both and I just wanted to tell you I'm praying for you and your family. What a beautiful sentiment you wrote for her. She would be pleased. Fondly, JoDee Gillen Allred from Murray High

Am very sorry for your loss. I worked with Emelia at Murray First/1st Sec Financial. She was a warm, charming, genuine woman who made the best tamales and mole' sauce and brought a smile to everyone she met. I am grateful to have known her.
