Errol Richard Van Zyl

August 26, 1939 - August 4, 2024

Errol Richard Van Zyl, 84, of SLC passed away on August 4th 2024.

Errol was born in South Africa on August 26th 1939, the eldest of four children to Richard and Gwendoline Van Zyl. Errol was a deeply beloved husband, grandfather, uncle, cousin, brother, friend, coworker, colleague and member of Knights of Columbus. There was so much more to him than just husband and father, though to us these were his greatest roles. His passing was sudden and unexpected, but thankfully quick, just as he had hoped. He loved life, spending time with his family, music, sport, a gastronome and was obsessed with all things Elvis.

Errol is survived by his loving wife Heather, with whom he  spent a wonderful 65 years, Heather; their children Clinton (Angela) Van Zyl of UK, Tracey (Rod) Siedle of UT, Debbie (Geert) Lippens of Belgium, and Dion Van Zyl of Australia; eight grandchildren Cara, Matthew, David, Nicholas, Daniel, Richart, Ayden and Emilee; one great grandchild Nicholas; and his brother Glen Van Zyl of RSA.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday August 12th at 12:00 noon at the Cathedral of the Madeleine, 331 E S Temple, Salt Lake City.  Inurnment to follow at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 4th Ave & “T” Street. Celebration of Life to follow.
