Our loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away on April 4th, 2009.  She was 85 years old.  Evelyn was born on December 2nd, 1923 in Plainview, Nebraska to Jerry Sazama and Frances Pochop.  She married Vernon L. Carder of Creighton, Nebraska on October 17th, 1946.

 

Her life’s joy was teaching handicapped children which she did for 23 years.

 

Survived by her son Vernon (Alix); daughter Denise (Gary) Fratto; grandchildren Erik, Margaret, Cathryn (Levi), Adam, Natalie (Foster); and 7 great-grandchildren.

 

Prececed in death by her husband, 2 brothers and 3 sisters.

 

A viewing will be held on Friday, April 10th from 6 to 8 PM at Centenary United Methodist Church, 1741 South 500 East, Salt Lake City.  Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 11th at 11:00 AM also at the church, where friends may call one hour prior to services.  Interment to follow at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 S. Highland Dr.

Denise and family. You know how much you are loved and we both send our deepest sympathy. I will miss Evelyn dearly. She is in Gods hands now and resting with " Big Red". We love you.

I will always remember Evelyn's warm affection for all of her students at Garfield School in Salt Lake City. I worked with Evelyn back in the 70's at Garfield. She was a great role model for me, a beginning teacher. God Bless you Evelyn for all you brought to the lives of all of your students.
