Evelyn Inez Ward was born in Erda, Utah on a hot summer day on the 11th of July 1923 to Jenny and Louie Mark. She grew up on her family’s produce farms in both East Canyon and West Jordan where she worked tirelessly. After graduating from Jordan High School, Evie got a job at Berns Foods where she met her husband, Johnny. She married John E. Ward on May 27, 1949 in Elko, Nevada. She was the love of John’s life for 65 years. Evie was also a loving mother to Susan Pope and Debra Smith, a caring mother-in-law to Keith Pope, and a devoted grandmother to Nicholas Pope and Christina Pope. Evie brought joy to her family through food, love, and laughter for 90 years until she passed away on the evening of November 14, 2013.
Services will be held Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at Stark Funeral Parlor, 3651 S. 900 E., Salt Lake City. A visitation will be held at 6:00 p.m. followed by a Vigil at 7:00 p.m.
