Evelyn Rino O’Donnell
October 8, 1932 - November 18, 2021
On November 18, 2021, Evelyn Jean Rino O’Donnell passed away peacefully at the age of 89. She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on October 8, 1932. She was the daughter of John and Lucy Tappero Rino. On April 16, 1955, she married Richard Hays O’Donnell at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Dick and Evelyn were together for nearly 59 loving years until his passing on January 21, 2014.
After raising her children, Evelyn went to work in the Athletic Department at the University of Utah, a job she truly loved. Dick and Evelyn were Crimson Club members for many years and rarely missed any Ute athletic event. Go Utes!
Evelyn was a devout Catholic, a member of the Catholic Woman’s League and the 49ers Club, and an avid bowler. Above everything else, she was a loving wife, mom and grandma to her family and a great friend to many people. Her passing leaves a void in our hearts.
Evelyn is survived by her children, Steve and his wife, Cindy; Sue and her husband, Dave Flaim; and Rick; granddaughters, Stephanie and her husband, Spencer Elton; and Emily; and her granddog, Yeti. Also survived by her sister and best friend, Maxine Giovacchini (Joe, deceased); brother, Ed Rino (Linda); nephews and nieces; and special friends Oeke Beuk, Lisa and Rick Bouillon, Scott and Pam Richards, and Chelsey and Matt Warner. She is preceded in death by her husband, Dick; parents and parents-in-law; sister, Marie Rino; brothers, Sam and Bill Rino; and her granddog, Ace.
Her family will forever be appreciative to the wonderful, caring staff at The Ashford-Draper; to Inspiration Hospice, especially nurse Maggie Maynard; and to Dr. Beth Hanlon and her nurse, Tammy, for the loving care they gave our mom.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for private family only. Interment Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
