Flava Lu Sacco

July 15, 1958 - April 26, 2020

Flava Sacco passed away peacefully on April 26th, 2020, enveloped in love and support from her family and friends, whom she loved deeply. Our “Flav” was smart, creative, compassionate, and excelled at anything she put her mind to. Anyone who’s spent time with Flava knows she was full of energy and the life of the party. Her smile and laugh were contagious, as was her positive outlook. Her granddaughter may have said it best, “She was so nice and really special”.  Flava had a passion for travel, golf, visits to the zoo, her book club, and most of all for “girls days” with her granddaughters. As she always said, “It’s all about making memories”.

Flava is preceded in death by her Father Gerald and her mother Irene.  She is survived by her loving husband Mark, her two children Melinda and Judson, and her granddaughters Ava and Grace- who were the ‘light of her life’, and she theirs.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like to raise donations for Utah's Hogle Zoo, and a commemorative bench where family and friends may visit. Donations may be made at Gofundme. com/flava-sacco-hogle-zoo-memorial. From the love and support of our friends and family, the goal for the bench has been reached. We still encourage zoo donations in Flava's honor be made or to Starks Funeral Parlor to contribute to the celebration of life where all friends and family may visit together.

An outdoor, appropriately socially distanced wake will be held on Saturday, June 20 from 6:30 until 9:00 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City.  We ask you please call the funeral home at 801-474-9119 between the hours of 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM to make a reservation in order that we may keep each hour to fifty and under people in attendance.   Please have a mask with you and wear it until you are seated and spaced from others appropriately.  We look forward to sharing memories and healing together.

In Loving Memory

Expressing our love for Flava and to the family. We have great memories of fun and travel. She was always a very kind and loving lady and her smile showed it. Her stories were always funnier than ever. She was a great mom and her family was deeply loved and cared for. Her time here was too short but I'm sure she's smiling. God bless. Paul and Robyn

Sending love and peace to Flava's family. Very sorry to hear of her death. She was a long-time regular at my Saturday yoga class at 24 Hour Fitness. She was always ready with a supportive smile, nod and friendly reminder when I forgot to repeat something on the second side. She will be missed by many. Immerse yourselves in your memories of her. In time, those memories will bring fewer tears and more smiles. In the meantime, allow the tears to flow and your breath to move.
