Buzz was born to Elias Alvin and Elizabeth Larsen Yates in Brigham City, UT, the youngest of four brothers and two sisters. A graduate of Box Elder High, he enlisted in the Air Force in 1950. A calling which he would make his career. During a break in the service he worked at Montgomery Wards and Gallagher Rubber in Salt Lake City. Upon retirement from the Air Force, he began a second career working for the post office in Salt Lake City. Retiring as a Mailhandler in the 1990's.
Air Force blue to his core, Buzz was extremely proud of his military service. He was a jet engine mechanic by trade. He served as an instructor with Mobile Training at Chanute AFB. During the Korean conflict he was an instructor in Japan for the F-84. Upon re-enlistment, he served with the 20th Field Maintenance Sqd. at RAF Wethersfield and Nouasseur AFB working on F-100's during the Suez crisis. During the Cuban Missile crisis he was working on B-52's at Travis AFB. He worked on the C-130's of the 463rd TAW at Mactan AFB during the Vietnam conflict. Ending his career in 1971 at Nellis AFB with F-111's. The history of the Cold War seems colder at his passing.
While Buzz was young his father and elder brother passed. A loss he carried with him his entire life. In 1959 Buzz married the love of his life, Anne Maddox. An English girl he met while in England. With her he had a family of four. Anne passed in 2011. He is reunited with her in love.
Buzz was a political junkie and spent many hours watching Fox News, Cspan and reading newspapers. He enjoyed mail order catalogs and the telling of a story or two. An avid treasure hunter, would be gold prospector and lottery player. He never struck it rich, but never gave up trying.
Buzz is mourned by his youngest sister, two sons, two daughters, six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.
Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, September 11th at 1:00 PM at Utah Veterans Memorial Park, 17111 S. Camp Williams Rd., Bluffdale.

Hi Kristen, I was doing a google srecah on Child/infant photography when I ran across your site. Won't bore you with the details but I'm trying to settle an arguement with a fellow shooter concerning certain rules regarding portraiture . the main rule being that the eye catch lights must be either at 2:00 or 11:00 give or take a mm or two. For the most part your images seem to adhere to that rule so I didn't find what I was looking for. But your website and your images are so original, beautiful, and compelling that I felt I needed to drop and line and tell you how great your stuff is. You can take a wrinkled up little newborn baby and produce a work of art. Don't ever stop.
