Forest James Raby
1/4/1996 – 4/2/2016
Our beautiful Forest has passed away. He had the biggest, kindest heart. He had an extreme sense of loyalty to his friends and family and was always thinking of others. His personality was genuine and honest and he expected the same in return. Whether he was playing video games, studying for school, making coffee as a barista, or participating in one of the many sports that he enjoyed, he did it with intensity and passion. His work ethic and high standards drove him to achieve many great things. He chose his closest friends carefully based on their character alone, which is such a great lesson for us all. He had an amazing memory and intellect which he used to make people laugh. And if his jokes didn't make you laugh, then his contagious laughter would. His passions were snowboarding, excellent coffee, good movies and music (not country), video games, and being outdoors. Forest brought so much joy to everyone around him and we couldn't have asked for a better son, brother, grandson, cousin, nephew, and friend.
He is preceded in death by his faithful canine companion, Cosmo, three grandpas and a grandma. He is survived by his parents Matt and Brooke; his sister, Amber; his grandparents; and many heartbroken friends and extended family members. His family would like to express their love and appreciation to his close friends for being good to him and to Publik Coffee for giving him his dream job recently.
There will be a Celebration of Forest's Life on Thursday, April 7 from 6-8 pm at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City, Utah. Please use complimentary valet parking provided on the north side of the building.
In Loving Memory
I'd like to begin by saying Forest was such an amazing person to me. He was so genuine and it's true he picked his friends wisley. I feel very fortunate to have been one he selected. We might not have been as close as I wished we could have but I cared deeply about him. I worked with Forest in Park city and he was my favorite to work with, always made me laugh with his witty jokes and I could always count on him for help. We stayed in touch after he left to work at solitude, and then Publik. I am so sorry for your loss he will forever remain in my heart. He was truly someone that had an impact in my life. He inspired me to get outdoors more, listen to all kinds of music, and just be better. He touched many lives I know it, he was a special person, the kind I'm sure I'll never meet again. I have prayed everyday for him and his family because these are the times we need the most love and support. For him the pain has ended. He's at peace now. Let us find solace in that. I can never know how hard it must be for his family to endure through all this but I send all my love and condolences your way. I will never forget Forest or the person he was and inspired me to be. I loved him very much and I will cherish the moments we shared together forever. I also find comfort in knowing how much his parents and family loved him with all their heart.

We loved it when Forest visited our home. He was a great friend and help to Devin, Esther, and Shelby. He lit up any room he inhabited and we always enjoyed having him over. We appreciated him being a part of our lives, and especially part of Devin's life. We are devastated by the loss of this wonderful young man . Our thoughts are with his family and friends. Although I never got to know Forest on an extremely personal level I was able to work alongside him on the basketball court and in school and was able to see his passion that he carried with him through anything he set his mind to. I want to let his family know that they have a large community supporting them through this hard time and that Forest's memory will always be honored and remembered.

I cannot even begin to understand what Brooke, Matt, and Amber are going through right now, but I would like to offer my prayers and condolences. What a fantastic family Forest is part of. Although I have known his father Matt his entire life, I only met Forest once about 14 years ago when I brought my young kids out to Utah for a family reunion. My kids still remember their cousins they met that summer. Although Heavenly Father has called Forest back, we know that his memory with be with us forever.

So very sorry, our condolences to all of you. The lost of a dear son is so touching. All is not lost with God he created us and he promise to resurrect those in his memories.(Acts 24:14) As we await this promise and many more may your faith in God continue to grow. God will never give us something as special as a child just to take it away to live in heaven with him. Because of unforeseen, sickness, pain, even death we loss the very ones we care so much about. Have faith God promise to bring these things to a end.(Revelation 21:3,4) May God be with the family.
