Franklin Marold
July 12, 1957 - October 21, 2023
Franklin Marold passed away on October 21, 2023 surrounded by love. Born on July 12, 1957 in New Rochelle, NY to Sarah and Frank Marold, he primarily grew up in Geneva, Illinois and was a sports lover from the beginning, attending countless Cubs and Bears games with his siblings Lisa, Francine, Robinne, and Vincent. He enjoyed his time playing multiple sports as a Viking at Geneva Community High School and was well known for shenanigans including streaking during musical productions.
Following high school he enjoyed a college baseball career at the University of Utah. Always a team player, he protected the smallest amongst us, from his childhood through his adult life and never compromised on his morals.
He passed these values onto his son, Zac, who was his pride and joy. After Zac passed away in 2008, Frank created a memorial fund for his son at Montana Western University, where Zac had played football.
Frank found enduring love with his long-time partner, Jennifer. They shared a love of the outdoors, often spending weekends driving their Airstream up into the wilderness to fly fish or golfing at Hidden Valley. He was a loving grandfather to his three grandkids, Alex, Rowan, and Cora.
Later in life, he rediscovered the joy of fatherhood when he connected with his second son, Kellen. They often spent evenings exchanging life stories, united by their mutual appreciation for a delicious meal (and perhaps a cocktail or two).
Frank’s surviving family and community of friends will miss his undeniable humor, his big helping hands, and warm hugs. Tight lines Frank, Frankie, FM, Paco, Uncle Foo Foo, Frankapotamus. We love you.
A celebration of Frank’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Reel Recovery where Frank often volunteered or the Zac Marold Memorial Scholarship online at https://www.umwfoundation.org/ways-to-give/donate.html or send a paper check to Montana Western Foundation 710 S. Atlantic St. Dillon, MT 59725. Please reference the Zac Marold scholarship.
In Loving Memory
Very sorry to hear this sad news. Frank and his family lived in a house that had a shared backyard with ours in Geneva, Iliinois. My condolences to his loved ones, especially his lovely sisters with whom I went to high school with. I am very sorry to hear this. Blessings to all. Rest in peace, Frank.

I was the least among us in high school. Frank was always kind, especially when it was not cool.
