Garvis “Marlene” Toney
Marlene accepted Christ into her life during her latter time on this earth and the Lord saw it fit to call her home on October 20th, 2010 and is now at peace with God.
She was born in Emporia, Kanas on December 26th, 1930 to Ora Lee Ellis and William Troupe; who preceded her in death at any early age.
Marlene completed her education at Topeka High School and went on to study Nursing. She was joined in marriage with Joseph Aaron Bruce and three children were born into that union. Marlene moved to California in 1960 and married Mr. Leroy Toney. She resided in California until moving to Salt Lake City, Utah during the 1990’s, where she retired from the Salt Lake County Aging Services.
She is survived by two children Wesley (Nina) and Ronald (Evelyn); grandchildren Gary, Felicia and Jason; great grandchildren; brothers Robert and William Jr.; as well as other relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 28th at 1:00 PM at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 1342 East 500 South, Salt Lake City.
