Gary David McIlrath
August 26, 1958 - April 1, 2013
It is with great sadness the family of Gary D. McIlrath announces his passing on Monday April 1, 2013. He passed peacefully surrounded by his family.
Gary was born on August 26, 1958, in Ogden, Utah to Mary and James McIlrath. He was raised in Ogden where he graduated from Ben Lomond High School in 1976 and attended Weber State College. Gary married Tammy Driscoll Kelley on September 12, 1991, sharing many happy years and later divorced. Gary worked at Flameco/Barnes and then relocated his family to Reno, Nevada, where they resided for 7 years. He was employed by Firth Rixson Viking in Nevada and later returned to Utah working for Barnes Aerospace and Williams International.
Gary enjoyed spending time with good friends and family, listening to classic rock music and always cranking it up. He had many hobbies including softball, boating, golfing, camping, and was an avid bowler achieving several perfect games. As well as the love from his wife Tammy, what brought him great joy was his beautiful daughter Madison. Throughout his life Gary acquired many great friends. His best friend Bob and wife Julie were always there for him.
He is survived by his daughter Madison and step-son Tyler Kelley; step-grand daughter Jade; sisters Linda Griffen and Patty McIlrath Martin; his brothers Douglas and Billy; several nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins; and his faithful friend Jake. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and brother Jim.
Big G, you will be forever loved and greatly missed!
A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2013, from 6:00pm – 8:00pm at the Ogden Eagles Lodge, 975 Wall Avenue, Ogden, Utah. Please park and enter through the back entrance.
In Loving Memory
Gary has been a long time friend - from High School (AP Math, etc.), to many years as a colleague at Flameco/Barnes Aerospace, and as a teammate on many sports teams. I really enjoyed and appreciated Gary. He was a difference maker and was an excellent person and friend. He will be missed, yet his legacy and memories he leaves behind will serve us well. Thanks Gary. You will be missed.

Gary is my cousin, and although we did not see much of one another because of years and distance I feel the sadness of a passing of a family member. My deep sympathies to the entire McIlrath/Heinzen clan. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.

I worked with Gary about 35 years ago at Mini Mart. We worked with a bunch of great kids and would often go bowling or to dinner after work. He was a hard worker and we always go things done! He was a nice guy and I enjoyed working with him. The boy could bowl!! I have great memories of him and his, I think it was a silver camero?? maybe?? He will be missed.

Gary 'Mac' was one of the good guys. He had one of the worst slices I have ever seen in Golf but he kept at it and was always fun to be around. I never heard a bad word from him about anyone and he will be dearly missed. Hope they have golf courses in heaven Mac. Love you Brudda.
