Gary James Bergstrom
February 20, 1947 - January 16, 2019
On the morning of Wednesday, January 16th, 2019, Gary James Bergstrom, who was a treasured father, grandfather, brother, and son, ended his courageous battle with cancer. He passed away in the presence of his family who love him very much.
Gary was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on February 20th, 1947, the son of Elwyn L. Bergstrom and Dawna Jeanne Taylor Bergstrom. He graduated from West High School in 1965. He married Susan Steoger in 1966, they were later divorced. He worked for P.I.E. and ABF trucking companies, driving locally in SLC and retiring in 1996.
Fishing and spending time with his family and friends in the high mountain lakes of the Uintah mountains, as well as trips to the SAW2TH mountains in Idaho, brought him so much happiness. He had a passion for motorsports, baseball, astronomy & music and his greatest joy was spending time with his ten grandchildren. He was a central part of our family, with a quiet, reasonable nature full of wit and he will be missed deeply by many and never forgotten.
Survivors include his father and sister: Elwyn & Jody Bergstrom of SLC, UT; sons: William R. (Tanya) Bergstrom of Loveland, CO; John R. Bergstrom, of SLC, UT; Matthew J. (Heather) Bergstrom of Boise, ID; Mark E. (Kara) Bergstrom of SLC, UT; Ryan Q. (Sara) Bergstrom of SLC, UT; and ten grandchildren: Evan, Connor, Hailey, Duncan, Shyanne, Emma, Carson, Josh, Myles and Carys.

In Loving Memory
Bergstrom family - I am so sorry about your loss. I know you will hear this a lot from everyone. Gary was a funny guy. I loved how he would bring donuts to his family and would tease his grandchildren. He left us too soon. Bobbi and Mike Mathews

Hey Bergstroms! I was soo sad to see this!! I loved being able to look at Gary’s photos. I remember him soo well even though it’s been soo many years since I saw him. I can remember his kind voice and cheerful disposition like it was yesterday. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of you and I hope you’re all doing well. Life is just too short. Add me on facebook and maybe we can catch up. I make my way out to Utah a few times a year to see my family and I also make it to Colorado too now and then. God bless. -Brad
