Genevieve Lopez Quintana

West Jordan, Utah – Beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandma, great grandma (“GG”), and friend. Genevieve Quintana, 83, passed away peacefully in the company of family at home, on August 27th, 2024
She was born May 20th, 1941 in Las Trampas, New Mexico, a small farming community surrounded by the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, to Benceslado and Elizaida Cruz Lopez. She grew up in Lark, Utah, and attended Bingham High School.
Genevieve met her sweetheart, Bart Quintana, and they married on December 20, 1958. She lived in Midvale, in the same home for over 58 years. They were the proud parents to Jennifer, and Valerie.They shared almost 36 years together before Bart’s passing in August, 1994. A devout member of St. Therese Catholic Church. For decades Genevieve served her church, community, and individuals in need. Highlighted by her time at St. Vincent de Paul Dining Hall, the Weigand Resource Center for the homeless, St.Therese Food Bank, and Bereavement luncheons. In 2010, she was named “Woman of the Year” by St. Therese Catholic Church for her devotion and service to the community, an award she was extremely proud of.
Genevieve is survived by her daughters Jennifer (Mark) Neisen, Valerie (Mark) Miller, grandchildren Alexis and Mia, and great granddaughter, Aria. Her siblings Edward (Theresa), Bernice Martinez, Benceslado (Charlene), & Edna (Steve) Downing, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by parents Benceslado and Elizaida, husband Bart, brothers Joe, Adelaido, Manuel (Laura), Robert, Michael, and sisters Edelia (Rudy) Romero and Lucy Wright.
Family and friends are welcome to gather on Friday, September 6, 2024, at St. Therese Catholic Church (7832 Allen Street) in Midvale, Utah at 9:00AM, with a Rosary to follow at 9:30AM.
Mass will be celebrated at 10:00AM. A dedication of the grave at Midvale City Cemetery will be held on Saturday, September 7th, at 11:00AM.
A special thank you to granddaughters Alexis and Mia for their special love and care for GG. Also, for all the wonderful staff at Home Instead Home Health Care, for their dedication and care.
