On September 6, 2025, we said goodbye to Geoffrey Broc Garcia—a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and friend. Geof passed away at home, surrounded by his loved ones, a reflection of the life he built centered on family.
Geof was born on October 19, 1949, in Riverside, California, to Gus and Stella Garcia. After serving in Vietnam as a Green Beret of the 5th Special Forces Group, MAC-V SOG, he returned home to Arizona and married Mary Victoria (“Vickie”) Garcia. Together they spent the next 55 years side by side raising their two sons, Geoffrey Michael and David Clint, who were his greatest accomplishment and lasting legacy. Geof and his family had the opportunity to live in many places across the United States before settling in Salt Lake City, in 1988. He had a long and successful career as an Electrical Engineer with General Electric, spanning 37 years, before retiring in 2014.
In retirement, Geof dedicated his time to nurturing relationships with his grandchildren. When he wasn’t spending time with family, he enjoyed playing (and winning at) pool, a classic diner breakfast, a good game of dominoes, and reading from his extensive and eclectic library of books. He will be remembered for his generosity to all, his lighthearted humor, hearty laugh, and warm, steady presence.
Geof was preceded in death by his father, Gus Garcia; his in-laws, Joe and Lucy Fajardo, and sister-in-law Josephine Fajardo; and his grandson, Andrew Garcia.
He is survived by his wife, Vickie Garcia; his sons, Geof Garcia (Leigh Anne) and David Garcia (Beth); his mother, Stella Garcia; his brothers, Gary Garcia (Heidi) and Greg Garcia; his sister, Gillian Colin (Bob); his granddaughters, Sammie, Emma, Erin, and Allie Garcia; and many nieces, nephews, and loved ones.
