George Bartlome
Opa
Our loving husband, father and Opa passed away on January 21, 2015 surrounded by his family. He was born on April 22, 1933, the fifth of eight children, to Fred and Lena Bartlome in Montpelier, ID.
George held many odd jobs where he learned how to be a handyman in the truest sense of the word. He could fix anything. He then became employed by Union Pacific Railroad where he worked for over 40 years.
George previously married Dorothy Allen and had three children Vince, Patricia and Jefferey. He later married Elisabeth "Liffy" in 1975 and the couple moved to Salt Lake. After George retired, they enjoyed traveling, playing cards and spending time together. They loved each other very much and never parted without a goodbye kiss.
George had many friends and was beloved by all who knew him. He made friends with everyone he met.
He leaves behind his wife of 39 years; children Vince (Wut), Sheila (Randy) Bowen, Lisa (Mont) Bradfield, Gary (Karen) Bates; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and five siblings. Preceded in death by his children Patricia and Jefferey; and two siblings.
A celebration of his life will be held on Monday, January 26th from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Catholic Community Services or charity of choice.
In Loving Memory
We have so enjoyed knowing George. We have only lived across the street for 3 years but in just a short time saying hello and having short conversations with him you could tell he was a wonderful, kind and good man. We look forward to knowing you better, Elisabeth and pray for comfort for you at this time.

On behalf of Reed, the oldest son of Frank and Bertha, and our family, I would like to extend my sympathy for your loss. The few times I met George after I joined the family, I was impressed by his friendliness to us, and his love and concern for his wife. I pray that God will comfort you with His love and peace.
