George Nepolis Jr.

April 3, 1953 - March 4, 2025

“Until we meet again, may God bless you.” – Elvis Presley

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of George Nepolis, Jr. on March 4, 2025.

George was a beloved brother, uncle (Theo), and son of the late Angeliki and George Nepolis. Born on April 3, 1953, he worked at Smith’s Food King for over 25 years, never missing a day of work. Known for his quick wit, larger-than-life laugh, and a “Kramer-like” personality reminiscent of Seinfeld, George had a knack for teasing customers and bringing joy to those around him. His selflessness and generous spirit made him truly unforgettable. He was a man of grand stature at 6’4, but when he walked into a room, he was a gentle giant.
At the age of five, a high fever left George with a disability and speech impairment. He remained inseparable from his mother, life long companions, until her passing in 2022. After his mother’s passing, he gradually declined.

In his early years, George lived in Elko, Nevada, where his mother ran a small hotel. He had a deep love for his Ford Fairlane, Elvis Presley, and the simple joys of life—like the smell of coffee, a bologna sandwich, a Bud Light beer, TV Land, and listening to 94.1 FM. Fiercely proud of his Greek heritage, he was often seen wearing a Greek fisherman’s hat, always with his κομπολόι (komboloi) in hand.

George leaves behind a family who will miss him dearly: his sister, Connie Linardakis, who will forever long for his signature “blown kiss” every Sunday; his brother, Kosta Napoles, who never failed to make him smile; his sister, Sophia Nepolis; and his cherished nephews and niece—Michaelis and Constantine Linardakis, Angeliki Linardakis, and Emmanuel and George Kavrakis. His beloved mother, to whom he was devoted, preceded him in passing in 2022.

Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to the countless CNAs, nurses, and staff at St. Joseph’s Villa, especially Joe Chase, the Managing Nurse Director of 2E. You are all angels. Words cannot express our appreciation. May God bless you.

Funeral services will be held at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 S 900 E, Millcreek, UT, Friday, March 14th, 2025, visiting hours from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Trisagion will start at 12:30 PM.

Following he will be laid to rest at Mount Olivet Cemetery, 1342 E 500 S, Salt Lake City, UT.
