George Zaremba

October 3, 1931 - June 16, 2021

Salt Lake City, UT—A compassionate, generous, honest man left this world on June 16, 2021.

George Caspar Zaremba was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, October 3, 1931. He was the son of Lithuanian immigrants George and Julia Usaitis Zaremba. He attended school in the Scranton area.

In 1951 George joined the U.S. Air Force and was posted to New York, Colorado, Utah and was a veteran of the Korean conflict. In 1951, George met Lorraine Stelling. On June 28, 1952, they were married. They had no children of their own but enjoyed relationships with many young people. They lived in Japan, Thailand, Los Angeles, and Utah.

George retired from the Federal Aviation Administration. George was self-taught and played the harmonica and organ. He was a licensed private pilot. It is hard to say which passion should be listed first, dancing, fishing, or cooking. It is a tossup. He loved a lively polka or jitterbug and could dance the night away.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, June 22, 2021, at Utah Veterans Memorial Park in Bluffdale, Utah at 2 p.m.

George is survived by his wife Lorraine, the Stelling family and too many friends to count.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to George’s charities of choice, the Salvation Army or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

In Loving Memory

Lorraine, we were so sorry to hear about the passing of George. I know how close my folks were to the two of you, and I remember both you and George at all of the Palmer family events over the years. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.

Dearest Lorraine. My heart just breaks for you. Know we are sending lots of love. So many angels in heaven to greet him. George was truly one of the great ones. Generous and loving to everyone. The two of you changed so many lives through your kindness to others. Your Bosnian family mourns with you as we do. You are two very special humans!!  Much love, Larry and Annette

My dearest Lorraine (Schmo). I loved our Georgie so very much. I cannot tell you how much he will be missed. Melanie wished she would have said it, so I will, he gave the best hugs in the world. He was always there for everyone, through thick & thin. There will never be another man with a heart as big as his. Our loss is heaven's gain. He is being welcomed into so many loving arms.

Lorraine, Marge and I were shocked to hear of the news of George's passing. I just spoke to him a short time ago. I miss the golf we played and the stories we exchanged. The memory of the breakfasts we enjoyed will be with me always. George was a good friend and just fun to be around. Although at eighty-nine he left us all to soon. We will miss him dearly.

Dear Aunt Lorraine, we were so sorry to hear of the passing of Uncle George.  We just loved him.  It has been a very long time since we've seen you.  But we cherish the memories we have of the reunions you attended and the yodeling with grandpa that entertained us all.  We think of you often, please know our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.  WE LOVE YOU!!
