Gerald “Jerry” Francone
July 30, 1939 - September 9, 2023
Our loving father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, Gerald Francone, passed away at the age of 84 on September 9, 2023. He was born in Denver, Colorado on July 30, 1939, to Armond and Hilda Francone. Jerry married his high school sweetheart, Jeanne Patricia Zaelit, on August 22, 1959, in Salt Lake City. After serving in the Air Force during the Cuban Missile crisis, Jerry worked in the family business with his father and brother, Miggs Francone, and installed beautiful terrazzo Italian marble floors that can be seen all over the western United States, including Utah.
Jerry had a quick sense of humor and a mischievous side. He had a special way of showing his affection: he would playfully tease anyone he liked, spreading laughter and warmth wherever he went. But beyond his wit, Jerry’s heart was filled with love for his family. He cherished every moment spent with his loved ones, especially his grandchildren, finding immense joy in the simple pleasures of being together. Whether it was a large holiday gathering or a weekly Sunday dinner, Jerry’s love for his family was unwavering and boundless. Jerry had a few passions that truly defined his life. He had a penchant for whiskey, camping, and traveling cross-country in his motorhome with Jeanne by his side.
He leaves behind his wife and three children Jerry Francone (Curt), Terri Matthies (Scott), and Michael Francone (Abbie); four granddaughters Linda, Chrissey, Alysha, Brooke; four great- granddaughters Amelia, Audrey, Olivia and Marlo; and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, Sept 29, 2023 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. In lieu of flowers, his children ask that donations be made to the National Park Service in his name by clickking the donate button above.
In Loving Memory
My condolences to Jerry's family. I will never forget this funny, sweet soul, Jerry was. Or all of his gold chain necklaces. I'm glad I got to meet and know this man. Hugs and love to the family.
