Gerald (Jerry) Smith Hathaway
April 14, 1932 - December 30, 2015
Gerald (Jerry) Smith Hathaway passed away at Jordan Valley Hospital on December 30, 2015 in West Jordan, Utah due to complications from a brain abscess. Jerry was 83 years old and passed holding his son Bruce Hathaway's hand. Jerry was born in Boise, Idaho on April 14, 1932. Jerry was the 1st child born from Jesse and Darlene Hathaway. Jerry had one brother, Dick Hathaway, and two sisters, Pat Brake, and Sheila Dawson Chelsea.
Jerry is survived, by his wife, Mildred G Hathaway, and they were married and together for 41 years. Jerry is survived by his children: Loretta Johnson, Sandy, UT, Lanita Chesnut, Axtel, UT, Lowrey Hathaway, Florida, Deanna Willard, Tampa, Florida, Jerlyn Mace, Magna, UT, Bruce Hathaway, Magna, UT, Marianne Hathaway Rhodes, Sunnyside, UT. Jerry had 9 Step Children with his wife Millie Hathaway. Jerry had many grandchildren and great grand children.
Jerry served in the Korean War. Jerry was a hard working man, loved his family and smiled at everyone he came in contact with. Jerry loved to camp and loved the out-doors! During the summer you would always find Jerry in his flower garden.
Jerry his preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Darlene Hathaway and his brother, Dick Hathaway.
Friends may visit Jerry's family on Friday, January 15, 2015 at the Utah Veteran's Memorial Park Chapel, 17111 S Camp Williams Road, Bluffdale, UT from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. Urn burial to follow with military honors.
