Gloria T. Felis

November 15, 1936 - January 8, 2022

Our mother Gloria T. Felis passed away on January 8, 2022. She was born on November 15, 1936 in Salt Lake City, Utah; the third of three children born to Edwin and Edith Tannlund.

Grew up in the Sugarhouse area where she attended Forrest,  Irvine and South High and graduated from South High School in 1955.

She was blessed with the birth of two children Melissa (Edgar) and Peter (Klistia); four grandchildren Alexis (Ryan), Zachary, Cole and Halle; and one great grandchild, Jack, all of whom will always be the brightest light of my life.

Gloria worked for Auerbachs part time while going to school. Upon graduating she moved to Los Angeles to work in the garment industry. Gloria was an elegant dresser and a world class shopper. She had a great sense of humor and could strike up a conversation with anyone.  She met the love of her life, George, wile working in Los Angeles.

Upon returning to Salt Lake she went to work for ZCMI as a designer and outer-sportswear buyer.  She remained there for 18 years.  She was a member of the Westminster College Women’s Board and a member of the Greek Orthodox Church.

In addition to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchild, she is survived by her sister Joanne Young and also many extended relatives and friends.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, January 14, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Mount Olivet Cemetery,

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of Gloria to Huntsman Cancer Institute.

In Loving Memory

I am so sorry to read about Gloria's passing. George and Gloria have always been great friends. I remember their engagement party and wedding. My husband, Golden, was Mrs. Felis' godson, and Goldie's family lived on the other side of the four-plex on 7th south. George and Gloria were so proud of their children. May their memory be eternal.
