Gordon E. Geis

August 14, 1942 - January 7, 2018

Our beloved father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, Gordon Geis, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 7, 2018 at the age of 75.

Gordon was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to Nephi and Idella Geis and was the youngest of 7 children.  As a young child, Gordon was active and full of energy and loved to play in the foothills with his cousins and nephews, catching lizards and snakes.  During his high school years his passions were cars, music, archery, and having a good time with friends and family.

After high school, Gordon proudly served in the Air Force.  He completed his basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas and was stationed at Oxnard Air Force Base in California.  It was during this time in California that he met his wife, Kaye Morris.  They were married in 1964 and had three children, David, Cindy, and Christina.  Sadly, Christina passed away at 5 weeks old.

After Gordon's time in the military, he furthered his education at Utah Technical College and Ventura College.  He worked for Geis Electric Company and several motor shops in the Salt Lake area until he eventually returned to California and began employment with Point Mugu Naval Base as an Electrician and Planner and Estimator.  He remained at the Base until his retirement in 1999, after 34 years of service where he received many awards for excellent service.  One of his highlights while working for the Base was completing a work assignment in Bermuda where he lived for over a year.

After retirement, Gordon split his time between Las Vegas, California, and Utah, working part time at various motor shops.  Gordon's hobbies included archery, darts, target shooting, and listening to classical music, but his biggest passion was riding motorcycles with his son.

Gordon is survived by his son David of Utah; daughter Cindy (Rick) Torres of California; and grandchildren Erica, Quinn, and Brooke Torres.  He is also survived by many nephews, nieces, and dear friends.  We would like to thank Gordon's nephews Robert (Yvonne) Weston and Sterling (Romy) Hess for their unconditional love and support to our father.  Rest in peace dad, you were a good man with a loving heart and we will miss you more than you could ever imagine.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City, with a celebration of life to follow from 3:00 – 5:00 PM, also at Starks.

In Loving Memory

Best of Luck to you Go Go ! On your continuing journey. I pray I will see you on the shores of after life. May the Dear Lord Bless your Soul...
