Gregory Krzysztof Mazur

October 14, 1966 - November 29, 2013

Our beloved father, son, brother, uncle and friend passed away suddenly in his home on November 29, 2013 due to a coronary syndrome.

Born to Wanda Platacz & Henryk Mazur in Auschwitz, Poland, on October 14, 1966. Henryk was allowed to leave communist Poland due to his activity in the Solidarity movement; his family relocated to Salt Lake City in 1983. Graduated from West High in 1985. Greg began working in IT to support his growing family, providing support for first Sysco, 3Com then Valcom.

He loved to cook and enjoy the Uintah. He fished, hiked, and hunted the wild mushroom there. He played soccer with swiftness and uncommon beauty, scoring goals prolifically. Most of all, he loved spending time with his children, who also play with a large measure of his skill.

Survived by his son Adam; daughters Mia and Anna; and their mother; father Henryk; mother Wanda; sister Maria; and niece Angel.

As anyone who knows the answer to the question, "Your mother has a child, your father has a child, it isn't your brother, and it's not your sister, so who is it?" can tell you, Greg was an incorrigible prankster, his memory for jokes encyclopedic. The sparkle in his blue eyes when he told stories was irresistible and magnetic. The loss of his voice will be felt by all who knew him.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, December 5th from 6 to 8 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, December 6th at 11:00 AM at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 2315 E. Redondo Ave., Salt Lake City, where a viewing will begin at 9:30 AM. Committal will be held on Saturday, December 7th at 12:00 PM at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 4th Ave. "T" Street, Salt Lake City.

In Loving Memory

I am so, so sorry for your loss Adam, Mia and Anna.... My thoughts are with you. This planet will just not be the same without your Dad. He had the uncanny ability to make you not only laugh, but laugh "out loud" - even at the most inappropriate times. He was a good friend who I will miss terribly.

I'm very saddened to hear this news. Greg was a great guy. He is one of those people you miss when not around. I'm sure many will miss him. Though I've not seen him in a number of years, I have fond memories of time spent working and cycling with him. Deepest condolences to all near to him.

Greg was my best friend in high school. Some thought that we were brothers, because we seemed so inseparable. Though life saw us drift quite apart over the years I was fortunate to speak with Greg recently about a reunion. Not seeing it through will be one of my great regrets. May you rest in peace my friend. My deepest condolences to all the loved ones.

Dear Family, I had the pleasure of meeting Greg through the Jordan school District.I was a telecommunication tech for the district and greg helped us with phone installs and service while he was employed by Valcom.I must say greg was one of the nicest people I knew.He was also a great father. His Kids came first, even over work.I really enjoyed working with him on solving problems. He was very smart and could always help us solve issues.I lost contact with him over the last couple of years, since I left the distict..Tried to find him but, could not.I will really miss Greg.He was a great human being. My deepest thoughts go out to the family left behind.
