Harriett Jacobson

September 10, 1926 - December 16, 2008

Harriett (Hattie) Jacobson

Devoted Mother

Our mother was born Hattie Garbalski on September 10, 1926 in St. Louis, Missouri.  She passed away December 16, 2008 at the home of her son, John.

She lived in St. Louis until her marriage to Earl Jacobson.  She moved to Salt Lake City where she lived until her death.  She divorced Earl in 1955 and raised her three sons alone.  She was employed at the Deseret Inn then the Holiday Inn as a hostess until her retirement.  She was loved by her customers and was a dedicated employee.

She was a devoted Catholic, recently attending St. Joseph’s Villa parish.  She loved God and especially felt his comfort with the passing of her eldest son.  Her favorite things in life were her family, crocheting, bingo and going to Wendover.

Harriett will always be in our lives, she was a dedicated mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  One of her most memorable attributes was to never gossip or criticize. Her family always came first.

Survived by her sons John (Marie), Greg (Jane); five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Skip.

A wake will be held on Saturday, December 27th from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City.  A graveside service will follow at 12:30 PM at Murray City Cemetery, 5490 South Vine.
