Heber H. P. Andersen
“Big Andy”
May 26, 1943 – November 8, 2008
Born in Odense, Denmark our amazing and extremely loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend passed on to heaven. Big Andy died of complications of emphysema while his wife and children were at his side constantly praying for his comfort. Andy battled with emphysema for years: sometimes he had to painfully struggle for each breath until his body could take no more.
Andy was a dedicated family man and loved his beautiful adoring wife and his loving children with all his heart. He and his wife Sherry were married for 41 years. Her heart is broken, and she greatly mourns the passing of her best friend and the love of her life. Honey, you have been the best husband in all the world and I love you more than life itself. I will miss being with you every minute of every day. I can’t wait until we meet again in heaven. Karen, Sharon, Sandy, Andy, James, and Jenny, his six children will miss him unbearably. He always took care of them and made sure their physical and emotional needs were met. He taught them how to work hard and how to have fun. Dad, we will miss our talks when we need your wisdom and advice. We will miss your laughter and teasing so very much. Our hearts will ache terribly for missing you, dad you meant the world to us. You are our hero and protector. You are the best dad ever and we feel so blessed that you were our dad. We will always love you with all our hearts and souls forever.
While Big Andy was on this earth he brought so much happiness to those around him. He was always cracking jokes and making people laugh. He was the life of the party. He was a great friend. Whenever someone needed a place to stay he always opened his heart and home to them: he would take them into his home, feed them and take care of them – literally giving them the shirt off his back. Andy we will miss your generosity, your caring and friendship always. You’re a one of a kind man!!
He is survived by his wife Sherry; children Karen, Sharon (Nathan Jardine), Sandy, Andy (Melinda), James, Jenny; grandchildren Michael, Brandon, Derrick, Kurtis, Christopher, Alex, Ashley, Neo, Kyra, Brittany, Jayla, Anthony; great granddaughter Amiara; and sister Carol Eggleson.
Preceded in death by his mother and father; and special grandparents.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 15th, 1:00 PM at Elysian Burial Gardens, 1075 East 4580 South, Salt Lake City, Utah.
In Loving Memory
Heber and I grew up in the same ward together and we were in the same school grade. He spent a lot of time at our house because my father taught him his timestables and helped him with his studies. My father, Wilmer L. Barnett was his bishop in the Murray Third Ward. Heber was a good friend to everyone and had so much energy. He made us laugh. The obituary in the paper meant so much to me for I had not heard about him since our school years together. May the Lord bless you as a family through this time of sorrow. Heber was much to young to pass away and I am sure your loss will be very heavy. With Deepest Sympathy, MaryLynn Barnett McCardell
