Holly Peltzer Howard

Holly Peltzer Howard, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend passed away on Thursday, January 28, 2016.  Holly was born in Rochester, Minnesota on October 14, 1946 to Doctor Wesley Peltzer and his wife Widney.  She was followed a short ten months later by her brother, Top.  The ability to have a second baby within 10 months of Holly was never satisfactorily explained.  This was a special lady who touched the lives of many through her gracious and loving acceptance of others.  Holly was a superb horsewoman and won the Intermountain 5 gated championship trophy many years in a row.  Holly moved to Italy after graduating from college and became one of the most famous designers of children's clothes and accessories in Europe.  Her shops known as the Calico Lion and her designs often appeared on the cover of Vogue Magazine in Europe.  When Holly returned to Salt Lake City she became one of the top interior decorators frequently featured in Salt Lake City design magazines.  Holly loved acquiring vacation homes and decorating them with her unique and eclectic style in Paris and San Miguel, Mexico.  She married her best friend and lover, Phil Howard in 1997.  They traveled and played together all over the world in their own unique bohemian life style.  Holly also loved spending tie with her children (John Paul, Phil, Loren and Bevan) and her grandchildren (Cuatro and Pierce).  Holly had a very special bond with her brother Top that began at the age of 4 when Holly saved Top from bullies in her pink snowsuit.  She kicked them in the shins.  If Holly was in Italy, Top was there.  If Top was in California, Holly was there.  Holly loved dressing in outrageous clothes and jewelry that only she could wear.  Her homes were cluttered with unique antiques found in obscure shops crisscrossing the globe.  Many of these were scattered on the floor where they unerringly found her brothers toes during his late night snacks.  When Holly smiled the sun shined and when she laughed the world laughed with her.  She never forgot a friend or a friendship.  Many of these friendships have lasted over 40 years.  Her glass was always at least half full and never half empty.  Holly you were such a special gift to all of us and you are so loved.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mount Olivet Cemetery, 1342 East 5^th South.
