Honey Hunt Campos

Honey passed away at home on the morning of April 4, 2024. 

She was born to Beula Boyle and Arden Hunt on April 25, 1936 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She graduated from South High School and attended the University of Utah and Westminster College. On August 16, 1955, she married her high school sweetheart, Eddie Campos, at St. Patrick’s Church. They have three sons and one daughter: Cub, Edward P., Aleko, and Maria.

Honey was a musically gifted woman who could play the accordion, piano, and organ. She was most accomplished as a pianist and organist, and played at masses at Our Lady of Lourdes, Sacred Heart, and St. Joseph’s Villa churches for many years. She volunteered countless hours helping the Carmelite nuns with transportation to doctors’ appointments and by making peanut brittle for them to sell at the Carmelite Fair every year. She was always willing to help a friend or family member in need. Honey helped care for her grandkids, great-grandkids, nieces, and nephews when they were young, and they became successful people because of her love and good influence. Her home was a welcoming, fun place for the kids, especially since Honey was a little bit of a child at heart.

Honey was intelligent, calm, open minded, yet stubborn, generous, spiritual, kind, sincere, opinionated, and unpretentious. She loved sweets, car rides, and had beautiful handwriting. She was a selfless homemaker to her husband and children and loved cooking for and taking care of them. She always had time to beautifully iron her family’s clothes, stay up late to help them type school papers, and wait up if someone was out late at night. She couldn’t sleep until everyone was home safely. She had a great love for all of her family. 

Honey was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Arden Lou “Louli” Hunt Lund (Allan). She leaves behind her husband, Eddie; her sons: Cub (Jan), Edward P. (Janet), and Aleko (Alexi); her daughter: Maria; her grandchildren: Kelly, Emi (Jess), Dard, Katy, Vincent, and Genevieve; her great-grandchildren: Elle (Jake), Evve, Liam, and Leif, and many nieces and nephews. 

A casual gathering will be on Friday, April 12 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City, Utah.
