Ilene Joy Wind

Ilene Joy Wind passed away September 6, 2026 at age 87.

Her middle name was a good fit for how she wanted to live life. She always wanted to bring joy into whatever situation she was in. She was the daughter of Claude and Geraldine Campbell.

She spent her first years during WWII, living in Alta Utah in a boarding house where the Peruvian lodge is. Her father and other relatives ran one of the last operational silver mines . This was during the time when the first ski lift at Collin’s was cobbled together with some of the old mining equipment. She knew all the trails that lead to the lakes above Alta and Brighton.

Her parents later moved to the wooded area below Brighton High to operate a mink ranch. She spent time working there, as well as working odd jobs like berry picking. She enjoyed horseback riding. One particular horse loved to run thru the low branches of the orchard with her onboard. All these experiences taught her to work hard and be fearless.

She was a cheerleader at the old Jordan High, one of the girls that pulled people together.

She was also an organizer. This included neighborhood parades on the 24th of July in the mid 60s in her first house in Sandy,  Utah.

She loved to go to Vegas in the 60s and 70s to show off her trendy outfits. She loved to dance. She taught dance routines to the young men and women in the 9th ward in Murray.

The Cottonwood Mall was her happy place . Or Fashion Place …..or Crossroads Plaza or wherever they pumped in that mall air.

She had a bit of mischievous streak every so often. She was “arrested” in Orange County California picking oranges from the side of the highway in the 70s while visiting on vacation. This was recorded in a family Polaroid with a smiling officer posing with her pilfering fruit. She left with the fruit and no criminal record .

She retired as a Vice President at Educators  Mutual Insurance in Murray, Utah . She started at the bottom there working at a claims desk and moved up. She was always a hard worker. She was very energetic. She loved to perk up the room. She was the Jane Fonda character in the movie 9 to 5. Or maybe Dolly Parton, depending on whether she was a blonde or redhead that day. She was able to break thru the glass ceiling and maybe smear a little lipstick on it as she passed thru.

She enjoyed the company of her many cousins and relatives, most of whom live close by.

She raised 3 boys and 3 husbands. She was preceded in death by all her husbands: Nick C Loulias, Robert A Pullan and Harold “Harry” Wind.

She and her family appreciate all the love and care she received at The Grand Senior Living in Holladay, Utah and her aide Joana and her family.

In addition to her husbands, she is preceded in death by her oldest son, Chris Loulias .

She is survived by her brother James Campbell and her two sons Todd (Kristin) Loulias of Taylorsville, Kim (Gretchen) Loulias of Renton, Washington; four grandchildren, Zach(Cynthia), Colton, Demetra(David), Jillian(Andrew); and two great grandchildren, Cameron and Madelyn.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 11 2026 at 12:00 Noon at Elysian Burial Gardens 1075 East 4580 South, Salt Lake City, UT.

Her legacy and joy will always be remembered.
