James Gordon Hansen
Gordon was born on September 12, 1939 in Logan, Utah to James Mitchell and Phyllis Hansen and died in SLC on February 7, 2012.
He graduated with a B.A. in Philosophy from the U of U in 1961 and received an LLB from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1964 where he was a member & editor of the Law Review. After graduation from law school he served as a law clerk to Chief Justice David T. Lewis. Gordon started his legal career in Los Angeles with Irell & Manella in 1965. He joined Prince Yeates & Geldzahler, Salt Lake City in 1967. He formed Hansen Jones Maycock and Leta in 1983, and joined Parsons Behle & Latimer as a partner in 1992. He retired in 2006 from Holm Roberts & Owen. His hobbies included skiing, golf, tennis, hiking, buying fast cars, building and remodeling homes and convincing people that tax lawyers have more personality than accountants.
A friend of Gordon’s described him as a person of incredible intellect; a business builder and leader; a trusted advisor; counselor and teacher to his partners and clients; a decent golfer; a better cook; a devoted husband and father; a lover of a good party; a traveler; a connoisseur of fine food and wine; a loyal friend. He left his impression on many people and although he will be missed, he will never be forgotten.
Gordon is survived by his wife Cinda; sons James & Charles; daughter Calley Firth (Brian); two grandsons Alec & Desmond; two sisters Sharon Katona (Barry), Claire Stevenson (Lanni); and a brother Spenst Hansen (Linda). He is preceded in death by his parents and much loved son Peter.

It's hard to say goodye to Gordon, for he was our closest non-family friend. Over 55 years for me, 49 for Eileen. We are thankful his end-of-life fight is over and he is at peace. Our good memories are many and will stay strong. Our families are indeed intertwined. Thank You Cinda for your caring efforts on Gordon's behalf. Our thoughts and love go out to your and your family.

Gordon was my elementary school (since 2nd Grade) and Jr. High School classmate. I remember, too, his sister, Sharon. My sympathy to your family. I understand Gordon had some difficult final years and that he was well cared for by his wife. God bless you for that service. Sharell Baird Eames, Adams School and Logan Jr. High

Gordon was not only my attorney, the best one I ever had, but he was a trusted and faithful friend that believed in me as much as I believed in and trusted his sound advice and personal counsel. My respect for Gordon as a friend, father and husband increased exponentially during my frequent conversations at business lunches and dinner with him and Cinda, truly his best friend and the love of is life. He was always complimentary of Cinda and often told me how much he loved Cinda, and how incredibly fortunate he had been to have her in his life as his trusted companion and travel partner. Gordon had integrity in all of his doings. He was trustworthy and undeniably honest in his professional and personal life. He was a friend, a true friend to me. I will miss him greatly, but will never forget what he stood for and how much he loved his family and friends. The professional and personal impact he has had on countless lives will live on. Read the blog I'm not liking it. We all know that obeitsy did not happen because we ate right and exercised every day. Being that I was a victim of identity theft, I'm very leery of anyone having access to my credit file unless I specifically allow and authorize a one time access to my file for a specific reason. BTW I am in not obese, nor could I even be considered fat or chubby. I also wouldn't want to be denied health insurance because I bought a Twinkie. Think about it, there would be ways around it anyway. I'd just go to the ATM, withdraw money and pay cash for the fast food.

and just to make things uber cuniosfng, it should be a double bill with The FIXX. All these double XX acts, too afraid of going the distance and making the commitment for triple XXX status.
