James (Jim) Pritchard
November 26, 1939 - October 24, 2025
James (Jim) Pritchard passed away on October 24, 2025.
He was born on November 26, 1939 on a ranch outside Calhan, Colorado as the first child of Guilbert and Marie (Kanuch) Pritchard. When he was in fourth grade, his family moved to Simla, Colorado. Growing up, Jim enjoyed fishing and target shooting, dance, and kept busy with four paper routes. After high school, Jim lived with his grandmother, Sophia Pritchard, in Colorado Springs until he attended school at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado where he studied forestry. While attending school, Jim lived with a few other guys where he traded free rent for cutting the guys’ hair and cooking meals, except for Fridays and Saturdays.
In 1960, he married Janet Bramlett and they had two wonderful children, Michael and Lori. Jim forged a career in banking in Colorado where he was on the cutting edge of using computers to manage banking operations. These skills earned him a job offer from the State of Nebraska in 1967 to work in computer programming and training state employees on computer programs. In 1973, he married his best friend, Connie Heironymus, and they welcomed a son, Jason. Jim worked at the State of Nebraska until he retired in 2011.
Throughout his life, Jim loved basketball, playing well into his 70s in the Senior Games. He enjoyed gardening and working in the yard as well as tending to his many cacti and succulents. He loved being in the mountains and his beloved CU Buffs. He was wonderful with children, loved being a father and grandfather, and could always be counted on for a laugh and a good time.
He is survived by his wife Connie, children Michael (Darlene), Lori (Bob), and Jason (Kayla), siblings William (Margaret) and Cheryl, six grandchildren, and one great granddaughter.
Cards can be sent to 7386 S 1000 E #204, Midvale, UT 84047. Memorials can be given in Jim’s name to either The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research or the National Senior Games Association.
In Loving Memory
He will be greatly missed. I have so many fond and loving memories of all the times and years our families spent together.
