Jami, our daughter, sister, cousin, aunt, niece, and friend died after a prolonged fight against pancreatic cancer. Jami lived life fully, on her own terms, and without regret. Her life allowed her to spend years in New York City and Los Angeles surrounded by beautiful art and wonderful friends. She loved concerts, art, traveling the world, and being with the humans and dogs she loved. The most common theme in her life was making friends everywhere she went. Jami never met a stranger, all were treated as lifetime friends and usually became just that. Jami loved people, but dogs were her passion. She could never pass up an opportunity to complement and pet a new furry friend.
In addition to loving her many friends around the world, Jami mostly loved her family. Jami and her cousins Stephanie and Christina were more like sisters and shared many adventures and memories that always brought them to tears with laughter. Her nephew Max brightened her life.
We are deeply grateful for Cedars-Sinai Cancer Center and Dr. Arsen Osipov, whose care and compassion made Jami’s last couple years comfortable and gave us the gift of spending that much more time with her. Thanks also to the Huntsman Cancer Center-CNS Home Hospice. Finally, thank you Fr. Anthony Savas of Saint Anna Greek Orthodox Church for helping Jami find peace prior to her passing.
Jami is survived by her parents, Patricia and Nick Daskalas, brother Nicholas (Erika), half-brothers Samuel Jr., David, and Brandon Kaauwai nephew Max, and dog Lucy.
Please join us for Jami’s Celebration of Life on July 26th from 6-8 pm at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. We are hoping to see everyone who knew and loved Jami so we can share our favorite memories and meet others who were lucky enough to call her a friend. Please dress comfortably, as Jami always did, and if you have a Queens of the Stone Age t-shirt, wear that. She would have loved to have you all together to share her favorite day of the year, her birthday. Hope you will join us!
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the American Cancer Society, Cedars-Sinai Cancer Center, or Huntsman Cancer Institute.
