Jane K. Young-Jacobson
October 30, 1948 - June 9, 2019
Jane, our cherished wife, mother, grandmother and sister passed away from multiple myeloma June 9, 2019. She chose the best way to leave – in the loving arms of her husband, Greg Jacobson and their son Stefan.
Jane was born Hettie Jane Kjar in Gunnison, UT on October 30, 1948 to her parents Leonard and Iva Dean (Olson) Kjar. She felt blessed to be the little sister of Perry and Dean Kjar.
Jane graduated from South High School. She married Randy Young and was later divorced.
She initially met Greg, the love of her life, in 1985 and after many years of togetherness they married in 1996. They were devoted to each other, loved to travel, and treasured their many years of love, laughter and adventures.
Jane was a red-headed, bright light of love and happiness to everyone. At her insistence from the time they were young, her nieces and nephews referred to her as “Cute Great Aunt Jane.” She often mentioned how lucky she was to have her family and have such a wonderful husband to take care of her. Jane never liked to be the center of attention so she privately and bravely fought her disease and resulting medical problems with strength and determination.
Jane had her own hair salon and was a hairdresser for over 40 years. She was referred to as a “psychiatrist with a comb”.
She is survived by her husband Greg; son Stefan Young; daughter Shelby (Matthew) Larsen; grandson Austin Larsen; stepson and daughter-in-law Mark (Diem) Jacobson; brothers and sisters-in law Parry (Joanne) and Dean (LaRae) Kjar; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents.
A celebration of Jane’s life will be held Friday, June 14, 2019 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. Guests are encouraged to use the complimentary valet parking on the north side of the building. Graveside services will be on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at Murray City Cemetery, 5490 South Vine Street.

True Friends are, difficult to find, harder to forget, and IMPOSSIBLE to forget. We shared unique friendship, I am so glad we did. There are so many wonderful memories, which I will cherish as I move through this trying time. The finality of it is so unbelievable , and yes, it does make you think of your own mortality, but even so, the empty space in my heart just aches and I miss her so!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm just so happy she is no longer in pain but I will Miss her Terribly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
