Janet Marshall Schaap born April 16, 1935, to M. Earl Marshall and Norma Sorensen Marshall of Tooele, Utah, passed away on June 30, 2025.
She always felt fortunate to grow in Tooele when it was a small town and you could know all your neighbors. She was a graduate of Tooele High and the University of Utah with a degree in Home Economics.
She married W. Daniel English, and they were parents of three children – Robert Daniel (deceased), Danette, and Robyn. She lived in Chicago for three years while her husband was in dental school and she taught Special Education.
After returning to Utah, she worked at Utah Power & Light as a home service representative, and then for Pellon corp. In 1977 she married Bertram H. Schaap, and they were blessed with 39 years of family, friends, work, and travel. She served on the University of Utah Medical School Health Sciences council, ERDC, and School of Music Advisory Board. She also enjoyed her grandchildren who thought her gingerbread cookies had “secret ingredients” that made them taste so good.
She is survived by her younger brother Richard Earl Marshall (Joyce), daughters Danette (Ryan), Robyn (Alex), five amazing grandchildren and 12 beautiful great grandchildren.
A private family graveside service was held. The family would like to thank the University of Utah and her many friends and dear neighbors.
