Jennifer Danielle Hogan

April 11, 1975 - April 30, 2008

The bravest soul we know, Jennifer Danielle Hogan, passed away April 30, 2008. For many, many years she fought terrible pain with dignity and grace. As her illness progressed and she grew weaker, she continued in the service of others without complaint. Her spirit now soars through the heavens free of the pain and burdens she carried for so long.Jennifer was a beautiful young woman with a lively sense of humor and a playful demeanor. She was deeply loved by her family and will be sorely missed.Jen had a special affinity for all animals and shared her home with her cats Coltrane and Evening.

Jennifer grew up in Salt Lake City and Lewiston, ID, returning to SLC to attend Judge Memorial, where she graduated in 1993. She graduated from the Westminster College School of Nursing in 1997. Jen was a very talented nurse, dedicated to helping others, though often in pain herself.Attending the Sundance Film Festival was a special delight and she never missed a season until this year when her health no longer allowed it. She loved the glitz, glamour, star sightings and was thrilled to get SWAG, which she generously shared.

She is survived by her parents, Helen H. Campbell (John) of Bellingham WA, Jeffrey B. Hogan (Debbie) of Salt Lake City; brother, Jason Brian Hogan; sisters, Brynn M. Anderson and Kelly R. Hogan; grandparents, Barbara Hogan, Hugh and Jessie Somerton; aunts, Jane Somerton-Frith, Beth Young (Craig), Julie Weisgerber (Philip); Uncles Patrick Hogan (Lynne Sebastian), Tom Hogan, Carl Somerton, Wesley Somerton (Laura); cousins Shaun, Jeremy, Megan, Maura, Katie, Annie, Tamra, Steven, Ellen, Samuel, Jessica, and Adam; also, many special friends. She is preceded in death by her grandfather, Daniel B. Hogan.

A wake service will be held on Tuesday, May 6th from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, May 7th at 11:00am at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 1375 East Spring Lane.

In lieu of flowers Jen would have wanted donations made to the animal service organization of your choice.

No words can soften your pain or diminish the loss of your beautiful daughter. While I did not know her, I see her as a mirror image of you Helen and suspect she was similar in kind spirit and loving thoughts. You are in my prayers.

I am so sorry for your loss. I had the priviledge of working with Jen at UNI and always admired the quality of her work and her intelligence. She set a high standard for us to follow. I am very sad about her untimely death. Too young and so much to offer. God Bless you.

My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. I was priveleged to be a colleague of Jen's at UNI. There were many mornings that we visited as she was leaving and I was coming to work. She was a dedicated, passionate nurse. I admired her ability to work and care for others through her own pain. She was a joy. Blessings.
