Jimmy Paul Ray
November 30, 1959 - December 30, 2023
Jimmy Paul Ray, 64, of South Jordan, UT, passed away on December 30, 2023 after an incredible effort to kick cancer’s ass.
Born on November 30, 1959, in David City, NE, Jimmy graduated from Ainsworth High School in '78. He then dedicated almost 21 years to the United States Air Force, retiring as a Master Sergeant. He was proud of his military career and dedicated himself to serving his country. Post-military, he stepped into a 25-year role as an Aircraft Mechanic and Chief Inspector at Elevate Aviation.
During his military career, Jimmy met Cori, and they married in '95. This new chapter of his life added two amazing boys (Kyle and Trevor) to his two beautiful daughters (Jamie and Jacque).
Jimmy lived life with an infectious enthusiasm that touched everyone around him. He was an avid mountain biker, which he thoroughly enjoyed doing with his 2 boys. He volunteered and was an integral part of the boys’ high school MTB team for 8 years. He enjoyed playing games with his family and was a die-hard Arizona Cardinals fan, who found both joy and heartache in the team's painful losses and cardiac victories.
Jimmy was greeted by his parents, Ralph and Doris; Brother Jerry; as well as joyous barks and wagging tails from his four-legged companions, Toby, Roxy and Nibbles.
Jimmy will be loved and missed by his wife Cori; Children, Jamie (Kyle), Jacque (Mike), Kyle and Trevor; Grandchildren, Kaylee, Logan, Nathan, Lane and Hannah; and Sisters, Judy (Ernie) and Sandy (Tex).
A true “Aircraft Mechanic” at heart, Jimmy's sign-off would undoubtedly be a spirited “Go Cards!” Though he's no longer on the trails with us, his vibrant spirit lives on in every breeze and cheer. Ride on, Jimmy, and may you find eternal trails to explore.
Per Jimmy’s request, he wanted to gather in a relaxed celebration donning his beloved Cardinals gear. No formalities, just shared stories and laughs, as Cancer sucks!
His party will be held at Starks Funeral Parlor (3651 S 900 E, Millcreek, UT) on Tuesday January 9, 2024, from 6:00 – 8:00pm.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who stood by Jimmy during his courageous fight. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to support hospice and cancer research in Jimmy’s name.

I just barely heard about Jimmy's passing. I'd like to share my experience while I worked with him at Keystone. Jimmy was definitely one in a million. Even though I was an entry level mechanic, he never gave me the vibe of my boss, instead of that it always felt more of a friend or colleague. It was clear to me he never felt he was better or above anyone else, and I always trusted him. I'm not exaggerating when I said that the most difficult part of leaving Keystone was because of not being able to work with him anymore. He always had a cold head even in difficult situations, and I fondly remember him unintentionally blowing raspberries every time he was focused on something. It really saddens me I won't get another chance to say hi to him, but his kindness and great spirit will forever live in my mind and motivate me to be the kind of leader as he was. Rest in peace my dear friend!

I had the pleasure of riding the trails with Jimmy while on the Bingham Mountain Bike Team. I am very sad to hear of Jimmy's passing. He was always kind and considerate and was a great mentor. I respected his ability on the bike and just tried to keep up. Happy trails my friend.
