In Loving Memory

To my family, I never in a million years thought I would be writing to say goodbye to my aunt Susie as she was a pillar of strength. She seemed like she never aged, like she was invinceable. She was the captain of our ship, the coach of our team, the leader of our pack, the minister of our faith. Her blood runs deep in our veins, her courage makes us stand taller. She taught us to never worry about what other people thought. She taught us how to hold our heads up high whether we were driving a pinto or a Mercedes. She instilled in us respect. I remember her words as a small child, "You don't have to love me, but you will respect me". She commanded respect. I just never thought this day would come where we would have to bid her farewell from this earth. She was the last of her generation and I have no doubt that the celebration was miraculous. I can imagine her kisses the hands of her dad, wiping the tear from grandmas eyes, hugging her husband knowing that this hug will last forever. I can imagine her with her brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews. I can imagine all of this and in my heart and soul, I know it is true. Aunt Susie, tomorrow I will say farewell to you as we send your soul to heaven but I know that one day, I will be reunited with all of you. Watch over all of us as we are lost and wounded soldiers and pray that the strength you have shown us will help us trudge forward. I miss you, I love you more than you know and I will try to write our book. Love always Debbie (Bobby Bonanna).
