Joanne Ellis Wesson
March 28, 1924 - March 4, 2017
Joanne Ellis Wesson shed this Mortal Coil on March 4th, 2017 from a cause incident to age. Joanne was the second surviving child born to Oliver G and Vera J Ellis in Ogden, Utah on March 28, 1925. Her older sibling Norma, and her younger siblings Richard and Kay.
She graduated from East High School and received her Bachelor's Degree from the University of Utah in 1947. She married Richard S Wesson on July 30, 1947 and had four children: Douglas, Madeline, Stephen and Patricia.
She was gifted with a bright and ever inquisitive mind which propelled her to success in all of her endeavors. Among them being one of her later careers which started at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Utah in 1972. She began as an entry level claims processor and through a series of six promotions, she not only became the Director of that department but also broke the "Glass Ceiling" when she was named a corporate assistant vice president in 1982.
After her early retirement from BCBS she applied this same drive and curiosity to matters spiritual, having found a more modern approach in a synthesis of Eastern and Western via Holotropic Breathwork. She continued to pursue this quest and became a Certi ed Practitioner in Grof Transpersonal Training and delivered services to many, quite often in her own home.
A Celebration of her Life will be held at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City, UT on Thursday, March 16, 2017 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM where friends and family may gather and reminisce. Guest are encouraged to use complimentary valet parking on the north side of the building.

My condolences to the family. Joanne took a chance on me and hired me to the commercial department of BCBS. It was a real learning experience and the opportunity was much appreciated. Her curiosity was good to see in action, asking the "why" to get better processes was a good lesson for me. Teresa
