Johannes Marinus Solleveld

July 20, 1952 - May 6, 2015

Johannas Marinus Solleveld
"Hans"

Hans passed in his home on a quiet day in the spring of 2015. He was born on July 20th, 1952 to Corrie Van Vessem and Johannes Solleveld in Rotterdam. As a young teen he came to the United States with his parents and six siblings.

Raised and proud of his heritage in the Dutch Community he was strong willed and had a love for life and freedom. He found compromise and confinement difficult. Woe be to anyone who argued anything important with Hans. He not only had a great sense of humor but found humor in many things.

Hans graduated from the University of Utah with a taste for modern American literature. He chose the freedom of driving taxi from 1973 to 2015. Proud of his work he navigated his taxi shark fin through the salty tides of urban transportation, flourishing in snowstorms and sweltering at the stands. While very independent he always remembered birthdays, it was obvious he spent weeks preparing the perfect and most thoughtful gifts. He had a great love for the outdoors.

Survived by his children Holden Page-Solleveld, Russell E. Young, and Stuart Haas; two grandchildren Harper and Everett; four sisters and one brother. He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

A celebration of Hans life will be held on Saturday, May 16th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City.
