I loved John. He rescued me time after time during very trying experiences. John substituted for me at Bonneville Jr. High leading up to and during a brain tumor removal. I would not call the substitute office, I would tell the secretaries to call John only. John would come to the school at a moment's notice every time I called. He subbed for me during the weeks following my brain surgery; always coming to my rescue in times of need. The students loved John; at the end of class, he would play Tic-Tac-Toe for a dollar. He challenged the kids to beat him at the game. If they beat him they would get a dollar. No one ever beat him, but the kids loved that he treated them with respect and could tell he enjoyed being there with them. I will never forget John's kindness and will always remember him fondly for what he did for me. I will miss him and our conversations about education and its pros and cons. I will miss his positive attitude and his ever-smiling face. God's speed John; I will always appreciate all you did for me and many others, Pat Daskalas

Mary,Billy, Wendy, Eleni, John we are all so deeply sorry of John's passing. We are hoping especially that he did not endure a whole lot of discomfort in his last days. He was always so welcoming to us in places that we were invited to such as your wedding to Wendy Billy He did have a very real kindness for everyone sometimes that can be hard to find in all people. It is clear that we did not realize that he did substitute teaching, served in the Army and earned a Bachelor's Degree. What an intelligent man he is. He seemed to be an Angel to alot of people who knew him. Well we are all saddened because you are all left to go on without him. We are hoping that you will find comfort in all your fond memories that you all shared with each other. Well heaven has been given a special Angel!! Know that he will be walking beside all of you cheering you all on until you meet again. They say that by every good man is a good woman. Well to us, that is you Mary. You are so very kind and welcoming as well. We are hoping that you will find peace and comfort especially knowing that he loved and cherished you for 59 years. That is sometimes rare in this life also. Even though it is hard to lose someone you all loved so very much. He would probably want you all to continue smiling for him. Because that is truly how we all remembered him, always smiling himself. With much Love and Respect for all of you. Archie and Tricia Sauvageau, Joyce and Shane and Alexis Miller.
