John Carroll Lemacks

March 9, 1945 - April 13, 2022

John Carroll Lemacks passed away surrounded by family members on April 13, 2022 in Salt Lake City, Utah.  John was born in the Canal Zone, Repubic of Panama to James Clarence Lemacks (South Carolina, USA)  and Susana Sarasti (Panama City, Republic of Panama). His mother remained in Panama after the death of his father raising him and his two brothers. 

John served 20 years in the Unites States Air Force. Completed two tours in Vietnam and multiple other assignments.  He earned his MBA while in the military and was a decorated veteran.  He retired after 20 years in the military as Senior Master Sgt after serving from 1962-1984 in USAF followed by a long successful career as a Civilian contractor working for the Federal Government for over 20 years as the Director of Contracting for Edwards AFB. 

After retirement he and his wife, Julie moved to Salt Lake City to be closer to their grandchildren and continue to explore the world together in their many travels and adventures.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James Clarence Lemacks and Susana Sarasti; both his brothers James Daniel Lemacks and Robert Clarence Lemacks.

He is lovingly survived by his wife of 54 years, Ruth Julieta Lemacks, his children Suzie Lyn Lemacks (Kurt Warner) and John Carroll Lemacks II (Amy Lemacks), and his four adoring grandkids, Julia, Grant, Jacob and Sofia Grace. 

Services were at Saint Vincent dePaul Parish in Holladay, Utah. A Rosary was held on April 20, 2022 and Mass celebrated at 11:00 am on April 21, 2022. John was interned later that day with full military honors at the Utah Veterans Cemetery & Memorial Park in Bluffdale, Utah.
