John E. Panos

January 7, 1938 - September 21, 2008

John E. PanosJanuary 7, 1938 – September 21, 2008 John was born into traditional Greek family in Chicago, IL during the Great Depression to Elias and Alexandra (Maros) Panos.  He was the third of three sons.  He is predeceased by his parents and brothers George and Theodore.  John lived a challenging childhood, overcoming many obstacles.  He married his high school sweetheart, Marie who survives him along with his daughter Elizabeth Riley and son in law Patrick, his son, Thomas, granddaughter Alexa and daughter, Dina Bekeny  son in law, Brian and granddaughters, Allison and Jennifer.   His achievements outside of his beloved family include a BS in Business from DePaul University in 1982; he was a Human Resource Specialist with Quaker Oats in Chicago, IL.  John and Marie left Chicago in 1983 and moved to Utah where he managed labor at Atlas Minerals in Moab, and Price Electric in Price.  John became widely known in the industry as an expert management consultant and started his own firm; Organization Counselors, Inc. based in Salt Lake City for a successful 20 years.  His firm was dedicated to assisting organizations nationwide to improve performance through human resource programs and continuous improvement strategies.  His expertise afforded him many occasions to teach as an adjunct instructor in Management at the University of Utah.   Dad had incredible courage for life and never said never.  He was a true warrior, highly devoted to family, religion, reshaping the earth with God’s plants and lastly his convictions, which never wavered as he brought on all challenges.  We will forever hear him with a spontaneous song; remember his dry humor and quick wit.   We will take these gifts and pass them on for that is what he would want.  Thank you Dad. Dad is our true epitome of strength, vitality and love.  His omniscient and omnipresent soul will burn in our physical world to guide us through…Dad you will be our forever and ever…

In Loving Memory

Very sorry to hear of your loss. I am sorry I could not be there with you'all today, as you were all here for my dad. I can only believe that those three brothers are together again and that there is a Ceasars Palace somewhere up there - With moving staues of course. Be strong and soon we can be together to celebrate our Father's lives. We had so much fun last time with the peach daiquiris. One thing that I am greatful is for our childhood and all the memories that we had as a family. Oh - BTW - I can see the townhouse on Anthony from the skyway. Love your neice and cousin, Cathy

I am sorry that I could not be there with the family today. It's such a shame that our dad's could not be here to see how all the grandkids have grown up. We sure had a fun childhood as cousins all going to Koraes and all the bday parties at yiayias. We were all lucky in that respect. The three brothers are together now. Love and prayers from all of us here, Sandy

Our hearts are filled with sadness of your loss. I had only met John a few times but had known him through his daughter Dina. I feel blessed and proud to have Dina as my sister-in-law who is a giving, kind, loving, and fun person. These are some of the qualities that we derive from our parents. Parents can never be replaced but we can carry all the goods things given to us by them in our hearts forever Our thought and prayers are with you. With love and sympathy, Derek and Linda Bekeny and Family Thousand Oaks, CA

Our hearts and thoughts are with you as you grieve your loss. John was a lovely man and will be missed more than you know. I suspect he and Dad are up there having a lively discussion about something mining related. My best, and also the best from brother Tom in Portland and Mom in Grand Junction.
