John Edward Hollister

September 3, 1949 – June 17, 2010

John was born in Tacoma, Washington, in 1949.  He moved to San Diego in 1965 where he graduated from Morse High School in 1967.  Following high school, he joined the U.S. Army and went to Vietnam.  While in Vietnam, his parents bought a house.  Upon his return to San Diego, his parents set up a blind date with the next-door neighbor, Eva, who became his wife of 38 years.  He worked for Pacific Messenger for 17 years.  Then, he worked for Home Depot for 20 years.  He attended San Diego State University and was a big Aztec Football fan.  He loved watching and going to their games.  He hated the idea of missing a game.

He leaves behind his wife, Eva.  Together, they had twin daughters, Margaret Corissa and Victoria Sydney, as well as two beautiful grandkids, Riley Nicole and Sean Connor.  He also leaves behind 3 sisters: Sandra Shelley, Debra Renollet, Anna Olson, and 2 brothers: George and William Hollister.

He is so loved by family and friends and will be missed by all who knew him.  Every time we see an eagle we will be reminded of him because of his passion for and his collection of eagles.

Rest In Peace ~ Big John, we all love you.

In Loving Memory

To Eva and family, Jeff ad I are so sorry for your loss. I know Eva and John because we were close friends with Eva's brother, Paul and his wife Sharon. I can only image how hard this is for you, Eva, losing John so soon after losing Paul. Eva and I have shared many afternoons in San Diego discussing books at our book club.(we all miss you) We didn't know John well, but will never forget the time we all traveled to Las Vegas to see the Aztecs play in what is now known as the "Dust Bowl." Our hearts are with you at this sad time.

Eva; I know you must miss John terribly, I know I do. John and I, as you know, were always exchanging e-mails, mostly about the Padres and Chargers and our families. John wasn't just a big brother to me, he was one of my best friends. Rest in peace; John. Bill

Eva, Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this sad time. We know it must be an incredibly difficult time for all of you. I remember the last time we saw you and John was at Sandy G's house--we had a wonderful time chatting with you two by the pool, and reminiscing of the (good) times at TdS! Be strong in God and let Him carry you through these next few months. So sorry... David and Michael
