John N. Horne

October 21, 1927 - October 27, 2017

John N. Horne our beloved husband, father and friend passed away at the age of 90, October 27, 2017.  He was born to Joseph Feramorz Horne and Ida Nelson Horne October 21, 1927.  He was drafted into the Army at the age of 18 and served in the Utah National Guard for 20 years in the 144 Evac Hospital and was a Warrant Officer.  He attended the U of U.  He married Jean Anderson in the Salt Lake City Temple May 28, 1947. They had 5 sons, Douglas (Lois), David, Christopher (Mary), Kevin (Carrie) and Thomas (Wendy). He has 19 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Preceded in death by wife Jean and son David.

Jack owned and operated Lumber Service, Inc. and All Seasons Cabins for 38 years. You will find his cabins in most of our canyons. He married Sharon Patterson in "The Little Church Around The Corner," July 26, 1969 in New York City.  They had a daughter Heather, she was the love of his life.  She passed away May 6, 2009 as a result of MS. He was devoted to all of her needs throughout her life. Jack will be remembered for his wonderful laugh, disposition, generosity, great kindness & willingness to always help others. 

He is survived by his sister Ruth Lundgren (Alan) and brother Grant N. Horne (partner Mario Castro) San Francisco. He was preceded in death by brothers David M. Horne (Jean) and Joseph F. Horne (Barbara).  

A very special thanks to Promise Hospital for their outstanding care of our Jack for 20 days. Funeral services will be held at the LDS Chapel at 4558 S. 600 E. in Salt Lake City on Saturday,  Nov 4, 2017 at 1:00 pm.  There will be a viewing from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm prior to services at the church. Burial will be at Wasatch Lawn Cemetery at 3401 S Highland  Dr. Arrangements entrusted to Starks Funeral Parlor. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.starksfuneral.com

Sharon, what sadness this news brings to me. Jack was always a super star to me, so caring and kind and always with open arms. I've seen few people show love the way I saw him show his love for Heather. I send you all my love and blessings.
