Danielle, Donald and JD and the rest of the McDonald family, I know you have sufferred a great deal. My heart goes out to you. I hope you will find strength in the love of God and in knowing how much John loved you all. He gave you the gift of knowledge. He taught you that alcohol is not just an illness but an addiction. And he taught you what it can do to a body. SOmeday you will be able to tell him what you did with that gift how you lived your life. I know he will be proud of you. You are all beautiful human beings and I am priviledged to know you. God bless you all in your loss.

My condolences go out to the entire McDonald family. I attended Junior high and high school with John and his brother Steve in Grants, NM. I read his obituary in the Grants beacon and searched for this site. I haven't spoke or seen him in over 20 years. My earliest memories of John was when we played basketball for my uncle Leroy Marez' basketball team, the Blazers, in the 2nd grade. We went undefeated, and the talent on that team went on to win a state championship for Grants High. God bless you all in your loss.
