Gone Fishing!

 

John Pavich, Jr. (78) of Taylorsville passed away on October 8, 2011, with family at his side. He was born Sept 8, 1933 in Nevada City, California to John Pavich Sr. and Manda Asic.

 

John worked at Kennecott Copper Mine from 1954 to 1980.  John attended Murray High School and joined the US Navy in 1950.  He served in San Diego, Pusan Japan, and Korea on the USS Hector.  He received Naval Awards and Accommodations for: National Defense, United Nations Service, Navy Occupation, Korean Service, and Good conduct.  After being discharged in 1957, he served in the US Coast Guard 3 yrs. and Reserves close to 5 years.  In 1955, John married Margaret Kuharski (Hansen) and had 4 children: Michael Pavich, Stephanie (Bartlett), Angie (Zdunich) and Tom Pavich.  He served his community by volunteering with the Midvale Lions Club and was a past President. John was a member of the Croatian Lodge. He assisted in the building of the Midvale St. Therese Catholic Church and drove the school bus. One of his greatest pastimes was fishing. Strawberry Reservoir was one of his favorites.  John married Carol Rose Mitchell in 1980 and they resided in Murray. Together they traveled, fished and enjoyed many visits of family and friends for 31 years. Just as he had always given of his time and self, John’s final act of giving was the donation of his corneas to the Utah Lions eye bank.

 

He is survived by his wife Carol; his four children Mike, Stephanie, Angie and Tom; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

 

A private family Memorial occurred at Starks Funeral Parlor. Interment at Murray City Cemetery.

 

The family wishes to thank the Veterans Medical Center for their kindness and wonderful care.

Pavich Family, I want you to know how much I appreciated your father. He was an exceptional man who inspired me as I worked with him, and supported him as he cared for his wife. I truly enjoyed knowning John. He will be missed.
