Jon Malecker

September 13, 1952 - March 10, 2014

Our very sweet and dear husband, father, brother, uncle and friend passed away unexpectedly on March 10, 2014.

Far and away the most important thing in his life were his two sons, he lived for them. Jon was the nicest, most trusting man anyone would ever want to know. Always treating everyone with the utmost respect, he strived to make others happy and never did he let anyone down. Famous for his 1-iron shots, Jon was a talented golfer and gifted athlete. In 1972 he won the Utah Junior Open golf tournament. Jon was always intrigued with real estate and he loved the stock market.

Jon is survived by his wife Leslie; sons Mat and Alex; and sister Jan (Darlene). Jon will forever be in our hearts. We are sure that he is watching over us while listening to The Beatles, Jackson Browne, Van Morrison and Bob Dylan. Somewhere he is ordering a cheeseburger with no cheese.

There will be a celebration of life on Sunday, March 16th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, a few words will be spoken beginning at 7:30 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. The burial will be on Monday, March 17th at 1:00 PM at Salt Lake City Cemetery, 4th Ave "N" Street, Salt Lake City.

Leslie, Mat and Alex, So very sorry for your loss! You're so right! Jon was the most kind and gentle man. He never had a bad word to say about anyone and always tried to assist in any way he could with what now seem to be minor difficulties. His keen sense of humor will leave us with many fond memories! Our hours standing around the hacky sack circle were priceless! We will miss him and love him always! Phil, Liz, Joel, Mike, and Jack Coryell
