Joni Woodbury Petterborg

Daddy’s Punkin

The unexpected passing of our dear Joni on November 7, 2008, has left an irreparable hole in many hearts.  She became the star of her own witty comedy show on February 22, 1972 in Salt Lake City, UT when she was born to Duane “Buck” & Jane Woodbury.

Her bubbly endearing personality made her extremely popular in High School.  There she began many friendships that she maintained throughout her honorable life.  Joni charmed her way into Eric Petterborg’s heart and they were married on 7/7/2007 on the 17th hole of her second home, a golf course in Mesquite, Nevada.  Golfing was a passion that she excelled at.  Her luminous smile lit up every room she entered.  Joni had great intelligence that was admired by many.  Joni cherished her supportive family and couldn’t have been more proud of her two children. Her family will be changed forever after losing their clever, bold, humorous and extraordinarily beautiful Joni.

In addition to her husband Eric, she leaves behind her children Rylee (14) & Connor (12) Ruiz; stepchildren Eric & Erin Petterborg; mother Jane; brothers Michael (Sharra) and Steve; her previous husband and father of her children Chad Ruiz; many other loving family members and many treasured friends. Recently proceeded in death by her father “Buck”.

Friends may call upon the family Wednesday, November 12th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City.  Complimentary valet parking will be provided. Graveside Services will be held on Thurs., November 13th at 1:00 p.m. at Valley View Memorial Park, 4335 West 4100 South, West Valley City.

In Loving Memory

Eric, and family, we were so saddened to hear of Joni's passing. I know we only met once at the Christmas party but we had so much fun laughing & chatting... she was a kindred spirit. She made you feel so welcome like you were long-lost friends... we just loved her. May your memories of Joni help you through these difficult times...Our deepest condolences to you all & if you need anything, we are here for you.

Jane, Rylee and Conner, I am so sorry to hear this news. I know that I havent seen Joni for awhile, but she was always in my thoughts as she was my best friend for many years. She was an amazing person who would light up a room and could make you laugh in the worst of times. My thoughts are with you and your family, and I extend my deepest condolences.

I will always remember Joni for her huge smile and even bigger personality. Although we didn't see her often it always felt like no time had passed when we did get together. She was so smart and witty, the light of the room wherever she was. She will be missed greatly. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family, especially her children whom she loved more than anything. God be with you.
